Reflecting On Self Hosting

I have been hosted my own websites for a few years now, both public ones and ones that I use internally. There is a lot of upsides to this, namely cost and learning a lot. However I have been annoyed with having to do things like renew SSL certs periodically, debate if I want to use wildcard certs, go downstairs and reboot the Proxmox server since the HP Elitedesk running it does not auto-power after a power outage.

The security I get from being able to keep my data if some random company goes down sort of makes it worth it, but I could also write scripts to back up my data to my own drives.

It is a lot sometimes.
